Limavady United striker, Jordan Thompson has been shortlisted to take part in trials to win a professional football contract at a Football League club.
Almost 6,000 entrants for the ‘Samsung Win A Pro Contract’ competition have been whittled down to just 360 amateur footballers.
And Thompson, a 17 year-old from Drumahoe, will be one of those selected to take part in the first round of trials in the hope that he becomes one of three footballers that eventually sign for Swindon Town, Wycombe Wanderers or Leyton Orient.
“It’s a great pleasure to progress to the next stage of the competition, especially because of the high number of participants that entered,” said Jordan this week.
“It would mean everything for me to win this competition because it has been my life-long dream to become a professional footballer.
For the first time since Win A Pro Contract was launched in 2010, there are now three professional contracts on offer as Wycombe Wanderers join Samsung’s existing partnerships with Swindon Town and Leyton Orient.
Hopefuls will be tested at regional skills trials and 11-a-side matches as they bid to kick-start their dreams of becoming a professional footballer.
