Former Derry City midfielder, Ciaran Martyn could be on the verge of signing for Coleraine.

Bannsiders’ boss Oran Kearney insists he will make a decision on signing the ex-Glentoran man within the next two weeks.

Martyn featured for Coleraine in Saturday’s friendly victory over Institute.

“This is a chance for us to get a look at him and for him to get a look at us,” said Kearney.

Kearney said Martyn had seen more of the game than was planned, due to an injury to Ryan McIlmoyle.

“Ciaran played nearly 70 minutes on Saturday, which was a bit sore on him.

“He’s got a lot of work to do to get up to speed and it’s only fair that we give him a chance to do that.”

The midfielder, released by Glentoran at the end of last season, endured an injury-hit spell at The Oval, suffering a cruciate ligament injury in September, 2010.

The Sligo native will be given another chance to impress in Coleraine’s next friendly fixture.
