‘Stute boss, Paul Kee is confident League Two side, York City, will rekindle their interest in Dean Jarvis at the end of the current season.

York invited Jarvis over to the club for a pre-arranged practise match against Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday afternoon in the hope of completing a move before last night’s Transfer Window deadline.

However, that proposed move collapsed at the eleventh hour as York boss, Gary Mills, claimed the left-back wasn’t quite ready to slot straight into his first team squad.

And Kee, who travelled with Jarvis to Bootham Crescent for the practise match, was delighted to have the Southway lad available for selection for tomorrow’s Championship One clash against Loughgall at Lakeview Park, despite sustaining a broken finger in that match against Blackburn.

“There has been a lot of Irish players moving to England and doing well. I believe Dean will be in that band of players,” he said.

“They released a left-back on Friday and in their match against Gillingham their stand-in left back fractured his skull, so they needed someone to play straight away and they believed Jarvis would have needed two or three weeks to reach their standard of fitness.

“I believe Dean did well and played cleverly. I believe it will be a useful work out for him and it will give him an idea of the standard of football.

“I hope to have him so that we can finish the season strongly.”

Championship the priority

Kee is looking forward to getting back to the bread and butter of the league this weekend.

“The league is the most important competition for us. We have to try and win as many games as we can if we want to stay in with a realistic shout of challenging for a top two spot. It’s a big game for us and we have to go there and do our very best to try and get the three points.

“Our form away from home has been good and I have always had a decent record up at Loughgall, but the unfortunate thing is that we are going to be down a few bodies, but we just have to get our heads down and work hard.”
