Former Derry City winger, Paddy McCourt has been released by Barnsley following the club’s relegation from the English Championship.
The 30 year-old Shantallow man joined the Oakwell Park club at the start of the 2013/14 season after spurning the advances of Scottish club, Hibernian and despite reported interest from the MLS.
The United States is a likely destination for the ex-Celtic man, however his release will certainly spark interest among Scottish and League of Ireland clubs.
No doubt Derry City boss Roddy Collins, who attracted the N. Ireland international back to Shamrock Rovers from Rochdale, will be in contact with the Derry native if that contact has not already been made.
Morrow signs with Linfield
