THE FAILURE of three teams to take to the field cast a shadow over last weekend’s Saturday Morning League programme.
The matches involving Premier Division side Clooney and First Division pairing of Gransha Institute and Top of the Hill Celtic Youth were cancelled with all three clubs fined £25 and they will also incur all costs for the games with their opponents were awarded the points.
In the action that did take place, Du Pont and Creggan Swifts shared seven goals as Creggan claimed the victory and Phoenix Swifts showed that they are prepared to battle all the way for the title as they hammered Clifton Villa 7-0.
In The Championship, Rocking Chair defeated Foyle Athletic and Drumahoe and Red Star could both only manage draws with the title race now expected to go down to the wire.
In the First Division HML came from behind to beat Hatmore Harps and Collon Celtic lost 4-1 by Strabane Athletic.
