He’s just completed his 11th season with Finn Harps, finishing joint top goalscorer in the Airtricity First Division - and later this month, Kevin McHugh will be honoured at a special testimonial dinner dance.
The evening of celebration will be held at Letterkenny’s Radisson Hotel and will be one of the last events in McHugh’s testimonial year.
The dinner dance is sure to attract a big crowd and tickets are already selling very well. Supporters will have a chance to honour a striker who this year brought his goalscoring total to 161 goals in all competitions for the club - a feat only the legendary Brendan Bradley has surpassed.
The night will also play host to the club’s annual awards presentations.
Harps clubman, Aidan Campbell, who is one of the organisers of the event, said the dinner dance offers supporters the chance to show their appreciation to the Killea man.
“Kevin has been a great servant to the club, one of the best servants we’ve ever had,” said Campbell.
“At times last season, he was playing better than ever for us. He was joint top goalscorer in Division One which is a wonderful effort considering that the team was in a mid-table position for much of the season.
“He’s a great ambassador for the club and a fine example to our younger players.
“He keeps himself fit and in excellent shape and even though he’s now 32, anyone who watched him in action during the past season, will know how well he’s been playing.”
Tickets for the testimonial dinner dance are priced at E25 per person with a three-course meal served at 8pm and music by Eklipse. Tickets are limited and anyone planning to attend is asked to contact Finn Harps at 074 9130070 to reserve their tickets.
