Portsalon enjoyed a successful Open Week, which closes this weekend with the following competitions - today (Friday), Donegal Sports Ladies & Gents Stableford; tomorrow (Sat.), Whoriskey Heating Oil Gents Fourball Better Ball and Sunday, July 8th, B. Coyle & Sons Ladies & Gents Open Stableford.

The presentation of prizes will take place in the clubhouse this Sunday evening at 8.30 p.m. and all prize winners from Thursday to Sunday are asked to be in attendance.

Monday, July 2nd - Dunleavy XL Store Open Stableford - 1, Kevin McGonagle (7) 41 points; 2, Noel Gillespie (26) 41; gross, Sean Kelly (9) 31; 3, Odhran McGowan (15) 40; visitor, Martin Regan, Nairn & Portnoo, 37; first nine, Diamuid Coll; second nine, Gerard McCormick.

The C.S.S. was 37 pts.

Meanwhile, Noreen McConigley’s Lady Captain’s Prize will be staged on Saturday, July 21st. The Lady Captain has a gents’ members section and gents tee-times on the day will be from 7.00 a.m. to 10.00 a.m. and from 3.30 p.m. to 5.00 p.m.

This season’s match play competition has reached the quarter-final stage and the players are reminded that all matches must be played by July 31st.

North-West Ladies

Winner of the Open Stableford on Ladies Day during North-West’s Open Week on Wednesday was Ursula Hinds with 36 points, one clear of the chasing pack.

Full results were - 1, Ursula Hinds (20) 36 points; 2, Mary McGeough (13) 35; 3, Sarah Power (14) 34; visitor, Margaret McColgan (16), Buncrana, 34; front nine, Anne McCloskey, 19; back nine, Roisín Williamson, 19.

The C.S.S. was 35 pts.
