Tie-Break Decider for Capain’s Prize
A TIE-break was called upon at Redcastle to identify the winner of Cora O’Doherty’s Lady Captain’s Prize recently.
In the end, Una Smyth’s superior back nine gave her the verdict, relegating Audrey McGurk into the runners-up spot following the closely contested competition.

Meanwhile, Redcastle, Mr. Martin Harkin, has invited the ladies branch to play nine holes tomorrow (Saturday) for his President’s Prize to the Ladies Branch. Meet at 11.30 a.m.
A nine holes competition in aid of the Defibrillator Machine will take place this Sunday, July 9th, meet at 2.00 p.m.
This Monday’s competition, July 9th, is for the PGA Tankard (Replay). Draw times at 10.00 am, 11.00 am & 5.30 pm.
The attempt to stage the Lady Captain’s Day on Friday last again proved unsuccessful due to the torrential rain and the event has been rescheduled for today, July 6th..
All members are asked to check draw sheet for playing partners. Refreshments at 9.30 a.m. at club prior to competition.

City of Derry Ladies
One of City of Derry’s rising young stars, Catherine McCanny, again produced the goods when claiming the Prehen Open Salver on Tuesday last, July 3rd.
Playing off a handicap of 11, Catherine returned a sensational score of 46 points which drew the immediate attention of the handicap convenor who has now reduced her handicap to 8. Well done young lady.

Next Tuesday’s fixture is Gladys McCullagh Cup Medal competition.
Despite the inclement weather conditions, there was a good entry for the Ladies Open Day last week at Ballyliffin.
And Molly McCloskey coped best in the conditions when returning the top score of 38 points.

Letterkenny’s Lady Vice Captain, Sandra McMonagle, tamed the course with a majestic 43 points when winning the Ruth’s Pharmacy competition last weekend. Many thanks to Siobhan who has always been a great supporter of the Ladies Club.
The runner up was Marian O’Sullivan with 37 points following a break of tie with Mary Murray, also with 37.
The Little Angels Open was held on Thursday of last week was also won by Sandra McMonagle with 37 points.

On Thursday, July 12th, there will be a qualifier for the Ladies Club Classic Team. The best 4 cards will be the team on the day. Teams of Four may be entered at E80. The Club Classic will be played on July 28th.
Last Tuesday’s ladies competition at Strabane was won by Margaret Bonner (28) with 69 nett, the outright victor from the category winners - Anne Sharkey (19) with nett 72 and Abbey Maxwell (33) with 74.
Mixed Foursomes Scramble - 1, Mary Duffy, Teresa Casey, Senan Roarty and Francie Devine, 46.6 nett; 2, John Masterson and Patricia and Ciaran Kelly emerged the runners-up with 47.2.
