Horse Racing Syndicates – It Could Be You!" - Journal Sports Competition

A new DVD explaining the organisation and operation of a horse racing syndicate has been launched in the hope that local groups interested in horse racing may realise a dream of owning or, indeed, leasing a top class race horse.

This fantastic DVD looks at racehorse ownership by means of a syndicate, covering the highs and lows and the social aspect of the sport. It's also informative, giving practical advice on how to set up a syndicate and then find a racehorse.

The story is entertaining, it's true (caught in real time) and it is suitable viewing for all - not just for the serious punter!

To do this, the programme follows the fortunes of two current syndicates and two racehorses through the 2008/2009 National Hunt season.

It includes interviews with HRI, racehorse trainers, Tom Cooper, who trains the 'Irish Independent' Arkle Trophy winner "Forpadydeplasterer" and the up and coming trainer, Philip Rothwell, the bloodstock agent, Sean Tiernan, who purchased "Solwhit," the favourite for the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham next month, syndicate members including the colourful Charlie Chawke, a syndicate agent and the former Minister for Sport in Ireland, Mr. John O'Donoghue.

The syndicates featured are the Goat Racing Syndicate who own the now famous "Forpadydeplasterer" and the River Syndicate who lease "Presenting Lucy."

Indeed, "Forpadydeplasterer" will undergo a schooling session following the completion of racing at Leopardstown this Sunday before a decision is made on his involvement in the Queen Mother Chase at Cheltenham next month.

The DVD contains footage from the major races involved and is considered an ideal warm-up for the forthcoming Cheltenham Festival.

It's highly informative, entertaining and it's for sale on line at www.dvdsales.ie and is on special offer for E9.99 from this week.

However, the "Journal" Sports Department has secured three complimentary copies of the DVD and those are up for grabs in our free competition. Simply answer the question posed below..

The names of the three winners will be published in next Friday's issue of the "Journal."
