It was a frantic weekend for the North West’s cricketers with action in the Ulster Cup and the Sammy Jeffrey Shield as well as double fixtures in both Divisions of the Billy Henderson leagues.

Limavady lost out at the semi-final stage of the All-Northern Ireland competition when North Down proved too strong at the Hunter Grounds but the Roesiders saw their chances of domestic league success enhanced as both Donemana and Strabane lost on Sunday.

Glendermott pulled clear of the relegation scrap when a majestic unbeaten double century from their professional Roy Silva ended Donemana’s winning streak, leaving Eglinton and Bonds Glen to scrap it out now after neither managed a weekend win.

It was a big week for The Nedd and Creevedonnell in Division 2 after both qualified for the final of the Sam Jeffrey Shield with wins over St. Johnston and Creevedonnell respectively and the pair also then recorded important league wins on Sunday.
