The final of the Benny Barrett Memorial Sprint will be the main race on Monday night’s card at Brandywell and after last week’s semi-finals “Space Ship,” owned by Brian Robinson will be a red hot favourite to win the final.
By “The Tracker”
This May 2012 pup, running from trap four was a very easy winner of his semi-final in a fast time of 16.86 and the 65 lbs blue dog looks to be well drawn in trap two in the final. He has a few lenghts in hand on the clock and it will be a shock if he does not win for his Coalisland connections.
I have also selected Paul McLaughlin’s “Clemma’s Dawn” for the forecast in the final.
Benny Barrett Memorial Sprint - in trap order - 1, Isaac, Space Ship, Clemma’s Dawn, Ballymac Regal, Belgrave Zero and Keady Brae Dan
Meanwhile, normal racing will continue at Lifford tomorrow night (Sat.) with 12 races on the card including three 575 yards events and it is from those that I will try to select a few winners.
The first event is race seven and I like the look of “Tromora Sugar,” owned by Charles Coyle. This January 2012 bitch has yet to win a race after eight attempts but the big plus is that she will really relish the step up in trip as she has been flying home in her 525 races. Indeed, the long run up in the 575 track is also a big plus. She also starts better from trap two and should out-stay her rivals.
My second bet on the card will be “Business Bandit” in the 9th race, also over 575 yards. This September 2011 pup, owned by Nuala Houston, has already won over 575 at Lifford and althrough he is up in grade in tomorrow night’s race, “Business Bandit” ran a great race at Shelbourne in his last race where he looked to have been unlucky. He runs from trap three and with a clear run he could have a great chance of winning for his local owner.
My final bet will be on “Tahina Rossi” in the last race and although he has reached the veteran stage in his career, he is still a top class stayer having run a great race last week in a top grade 600 event beaten under three lenghts in a fast 33.16.
