The top place finishes on Saturday at Greencastle came from players who started at different ends of the day.
In fact, the winning card belonged to Billy Kerr (19) who played his round first thing in the morning having return a score of 29 points and the runner up was Joe McCafferty (11) who was part of the last group of the day with 28 points.
The Ladies competition was won by Margaret Dolan (29) with a very good score of 22 points.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, there was a tie at the top with scores of 31 points.
And after the calculation, it was Frank Faulkner (24), who was in the winners’ enclosure for the second time this year having defeated Nigel Davenport (8) following the break of tie decider.
Tomorrow (Saturday) sees the traditional Captain’s “Drive In” launch the new competitive golf season.
The event will be followed by the competition which will get underway with a shotgun start at 1.00 p.m. sharp.
There is also a morning session to the competition which will tee-off simulataneously at 9.00 am.
In the evening the draw for the club’s matchplay competitions has been scheduled.
Sunday’s competition, March 16th, is an Open Gents Singles Stableford and a timesheet is in operation.
Finally, on Monday, March 17th, St. Patrick’s Day, a Ladies & Gents Open Singles Stableford has been organised, also with a timesheet inoperation.
