HISTORY MAKER . . . New world kickboxing champion, Natalie McCarron, who claimed the ???????? title when winning the title in England last Saturday night.

CARRIGANS lady, Natalie McCarron, created history last Saturday night when becoming the first ever Irish Lady Professional Kickboxing Champion the World when winning the ISKA Featherweight Title in dramatic style in Western Super-Mare in England.

Natalie stopped her opponent, Katie Sendall, in the fourth round via Technical Knockout.

The Inishowen lass was quick out of the starting blocks opting to keep sustained pressure on her English opponent, wearing her down with constant kicks and punches to both head and body.

In the fourth round McCarron, still fighting at a frantic pace, uped the ante yet again. A powerful kick to Sendall’s midsection saw her arch over in severe pain.

At that stage, the referee had seen enough and with Sendall in no position to continue and he subsquently brought the fight to a premature end..

And the jubuliant winner was quick to thank her coach, Paddy Toland, for everything he has done for her since she started kickboxing.

“If it wasn’t for Paddy Toland I wouldnt be standing here wearing a world title belt,” she declared.

Natalie also created a piece of history on the night by becoming the first ever Irish, Lady Professional Kickboxing Champion of the World, and to do it in front of Sky Tv cameras was an extra bonus.

Natalie now joins other PT’s professional Kickboxing World Champions, Tommy “The Letterkenny Ghost” McCafferty, Derryman, Daniel “Pinta” Quigley and Commonwealth hampion Aidan “Lights Out” Lafferty.

Paddy Toland said afterwards: “I’m absolutely delighted for Natlie, there are no words I could say that could explain how proud I am that she is the new world champion no one has put in so much time and hard work. Working with Natalie is such a joy”.

Next up for PT’s Kickboxers “Young Guns 2” which will take place in St. Columbs Hall on September 24th next where Derryman and PT’s Bishop Steet fighter Damien “Sugarfoot” Roberts will fight for the Irish Title with a full supporting bill.

Then it’s on to the Clanree Hotel on November 5th which will see Tommy McCaferty and Natalie fight for another World title!
