The City of Derry Building Society Open Stableford takes place at Prehen this Saturday, September 14th, and it will be the final counting competition for the Society’s Order of Merit which started back in April.
Decided on each player’s best 15 stableford cards over the season, it clearly identifys the outstanding golfer at Prehen in 2013. With just one competition left it looks a foregone conclusion, as Stephen McKeegan, on 558 points, holds a seemingly unbeatable 18 point advantage over the second placed player.
His average score for the 15 rounds is just over 37 points, an incredibly consistent performance. The rest of the places are not so clear cut with only nine points difference currently between 2nd and 6th place. Ernie Heywood has 540 points, a single point ahead of Kealan Quigg who sits on 539 points. Next on the list are George Curry and Lester Moore both on 535 points. Jim McDaid lies in sixth on 531 followed by Tommy McBride on 530. Kevin Mark Doherty is next on 527 points with Shane Kelly in ninth on 526 and 10th is Tony McDermott on 517 points. He is also the leading veteran in the competition, a separate prize is on offer in that category.
