Hugh Craig (15) claimed the Victor Fiorentini Cup on Sunday last at Greencastle with a nett score of 62.
Covering the front nine in a one over par 35 - assisted by a two at the third hole Hugh recorded a second birdie at the 11th.
Chasing him all the way home was Charlie Kelly (25) who finished with a score of 63 nett. He had a sub par score at the 15th hole and had the same total on each nine, a consistent card from the high handicapper.
The top two finished well clear of the rest of the field with the next best being the 66 nett from Eoin Rankin (15) who has rejoined the club recently.
Willie Havlin won the gross prize with a two over par 71, and the ‘nines’ prizes were secured by Charlie Glenn (31) and Tony Carlin (33).
Meanwhile, last Saturday’s Ladies and Gents Open Stableford attracted a good entry to the Inishowen venue and the top card belonged to Gerry McLaughlin (16) whose 37 points gave him a one point margin of victory.
The runner-up was Andrew Ward (15) with 36 points and Bernard Kelly (5) came home a close third with 35 points.
The gross prize was secured by Brendan Price and Paddy McClenaghan and Hugh Foy won the ‘nines’ with 20 and 18 points respectively.
In the ladies competition, Greencastle’s Lady Vice-Captain Maureen Keys (20) was the winner with 30 points.
