Final preparations for annual Marty’s Run

Anticipation is building as Foyle Valley Athletics Club make the final preparations for the annual Marty’s 5K run/walk this Sunday, October 13th.

Runners, fun runners and walkers are invited to take part in one of the largest 5k events in N. Ireland held in memory of the late Marty Gallagher.

The run is expected to attract in excess of 500 entrants.

It starts on the Glengalliagh Road at 11 a.m. outside St Brigid’s High School.

Registration will take place on Saturday, October 12th between 12 noon and 4 p.m. at Templemore Sports Complex.

You can also register on the morning of the race at Templemore Sports Complex between 9 a.m. and 10.30 a.m.

The race fee is £10 and proceeds will go to local charities.

The first 700 participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt.

All finishers will receive refreshments and there will be prizes for all the usual running categories.

The course record for Marty’s 5K is held by City of Derry Spartan, Conor Bradley who completed last year’s course in 14 minutes 52 seconds.
