FOYLE CYCLING Club have announced details of a new three-day race to be held in May after securing a sponsisorship deal with ‘The Coffeee House’ on Atlantic Quay
The Coffee House will also help fund the club’s 10 man racing team that will travel across Ireland every weekend from February 25th to September 7th.
The new club race, entitled “The Coffee House Club Three-day”, will see young race sensation Matthew Doyle challenge for the first place overall on completion of a 12-lap (20 miles) race round Campsie on the first night, a four-lap (20 mile) race round Burt on the second night and finishing off with a 10 mile time trial on the final night on the main road from Letterkenny to Bridgend and back.
“Karen Wiener and Caroline Miller have very kindly sponsored the club’s all new three-day club race set to take place over three evenings in May from the 22nd to the 24th with all 110 club members pitting the biking skills against one another for the top racer in the Foyle ranks,” said Laurence Watson- Club race co-ordinator.
Doyle and his team mates have a massive season ahead of them if they intend to better their success last year what was the first full season as a racing team,
Matthew had a very successful 2011 as a youth racer for both Foyle and the Irish national youth team. This season he will be moving up a level to junior and hopes to mirror his past season at a higher level.
Foyle’s club runs are a huge part of the teams training and are available to all club members and any newcomers to the sport are always welcome. Runs leave from Templemore Sports Complex at 9.00am on Saturdays and Sundays.
The distances vary in length and ability and always end up finishing at the Coffee House on the Quay.
