Following the huge success of the City of Culture criterium staged in Derry last month, Foyle Cycling Club hosts its second cycling Ireland Open event of the year - the Foyle GP this Sunday.

Proudly sponsored by The Coffee House, Atlantic Quay the race will include a 10 mile lap through Killea, St Johnston, Carrigans and Nixon’s Corner. .

The main race will start at 12 p.m. and consists of five laps while the B race will start at 12.05 p.m. and cover four laps of the same course.

With a host of top racers travelling from Newry and Belfast and local Foyle riders and neighbouring clubs from Donegal and Strabane/Lifford, the race promises to be highly competitive.

The race will start and finish just before the Top garage in Killea and the club encourage locals to come out and support a great day of racing.

Anyone passing through the area should expect short delays as the race will take place between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.

The host club’s Ryan Reilly will be among the favourites to take the win on Sunday.

However, there will be plenty of top class riders from across the north and the race is expected to match the standard of last month’s City of Culture Criterium where competitors raced through the steep hills and narrow streets of the historic walled city.
