FOYLE GOLF Club defeated Fortwilliam in Killymoon on Sunday to progress to the final of the Ulster section of the Pierce Purcell Cup.

The Ballyarnet club, under the captaincy of Kevin Dunn and Jackie Thomas, will now meet Rossmore at Dunmurray on Sunday, August 12th with the winners going on to Kindale Golf Club, Co. Cork for the All-Ireland Cups and Shields Finals in September.

Foyle had got off to a great start on Sunday with Tommy Bradley and Kris McMorris winning 6-5 and they followed up with Ruari O’Connor and Raymond Tracey winning 6-4 to take a two match lead.

Fortwilliam claimed the next two matches with Jim McGrotty and John Coyle losing 2-1 and Kieran Bradley and Brian O’Neill losing out at the first extra hole.

With a place in the final resting on the last pair, Kevin Crumley and Cormac Cassidy won the 16th hole to go two up and they booked Foyle a place in the final when they halved the 17th for a 2-1 victory.
