GARY McEvoy claimed the Cancer Care Charity Open Stableford at Foyle on Saturday, the event attracting an excellent entry.
In excess of 110 competitors took to the Ballyarnett fairways and they had to contend with a very strong breeze which made scoring difficult.
Therefore, it came as no surprise that the low handicapped players came to the fore with 5 handicapper McEvoy returning an excellent score of 40.

Meanwhile, the annual P.F.S. Accountants sponsors Wednesday Open Stableford attracted an excellent entry with the competitors enjoying favorable conditions until late in the evening.
Kevin McDermott (15) used his early start to return a fine winning score of 45 points with one of Foyle’s rising stars, three handicapper, Shane Bonner, finishing second after a three under par round for his 42 points.

The club pairs match play qualifying rounds are now nearing completion, the top team in each section and the next best two runners-up teams over the six sections will qualify for the knockout stages. All matches must be played before Friday, August 16. It would be appreciated if the players who listed their names d for this competition would make arrangements to play their respective matches.
