A long-standing and highly popular member, Thomas, had been serving as Trustee of the club and was Captain in 1990 and President in 2013.

His association with Greencastle goes back many years and his wife, Helena, is currently the club’s Lady President.

The affection in which Thomas was held was due in no small measure to his often outspoken, but always humorous, opinions on every topic of conversation.

The sympathy of all at Greencastle is extended to Helena and the extended Doherty family.

May he rest in peace.

Meanwhile, Saturday’s Ladies and Gents Open attracted a very large entry with the numbers boosted by the Captain’s outing from Newtownstewart.

Indeed, three of the Newtownstewart visitors found themselves among the winners, but it was 2016 Eclectic winner, Billy Kerr who scooped the top prize.
