BUNCRANA member, Hugh Henderson, topped the Donegal Seniors Alliance final outing of the season at Ballyliffin recently when the 18 handicapper returned the top score of 42 points to win by one.

Ladies Alliance Outing

The second outing for members of the Donegal & Friends Ladies Alliance will take place to City of Derry Golf Club this Saturday, October 13th.

The first tee at Prehen has been booked from 11.00 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. with last cards issued at 12.30 p.m.

Foyle Captain’s

“away day”

Foyle Golf Club Captain, Mr. Eddie Ball, staged his ‘away day’ at Ballyliffin recently where Frank McGuire put his local knowledge to good effect.

A member of both clubs, Frank posted the top score on what was a good day despite the windy conditions.

John Coyle with another dual member took the runners-up spot with Liam Cregan in third.

City of Derry

Thursday Society

City of Derry’s Thursday Society staged their first competition of the new season on Thursday last and a very impressive entry of 60 members took to the fairways.

Three players returned scores of 39 points and the best of these following tie breaks was Arthur McMemamin (19). He had 20 points on the back nine which included two “7’s.”

Connie McAllister (21) had 19 points on his back nine to give him the verdict over third placed John Flynn (16), a newcomer to the Society, who seemed to have the competition sewn up until a disastrous blank on the 17th left him with 18 points on his back nine.

Results from the Confined Stableford staged on Saturday last, October 6th - 1, break of tie, Tony McDermott (12) 40 pts.; 2, Jim McDaid (19) 40; 3, break of tie, Noel Kehoe (17) 39.

Prehen members are advised that the annual turkey competitions resume next on Saturday next, October 13th.

Notes From North-West

A two-man Scramble was staged at North-West on September 29th and the pairing of Terry Slevin & Felix Cunningham (27) emerged victorious with a fantastic score of 52 points edging Eamon Walker & Joe McIlroy (18) into the runners-up spot by one point.

The usual Open Meal Deal is on offer today (Tuesday) with the Thursday Society now back in operation.

St. Joseph’s PPU Outing

St. Joseph’s Past Pupils Union will stage their annual golf outing at Greencastle on Saturday, October 20th.

The first tee has been booked from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

Due to the fact that the school is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, it’s hoped that all those golfers who have been associated with the school over the years, will take part in this particular tournament.

The event is open to all past pupils, teaching staff and auxiliary staff and competition will be a singles stableford.
