JOANNE Harkin used her experience to good effect at North-West on Saturday when securing Mrs. Claire Cully’s fabulous Lady Captain’s Prize, the event played in horrendous conditions.

The talented eight handicapper battled her way through the heavy showers and windy conditions to post a highly respectable 35 points and hold a two points advantage over the chasing pack.

And while that victory was certainly celebrated by the Buncrana Harkin family, the ability of husband James was not to be outdone either as he stood up to the plate to win the annual Glengollan Cup which was staged at Lisfannon on Sunday.

But back to Claire Cully’s Captain’s Prize and despite the wet condition the North-West Ladies Branch turned out in great force to support their highly popular official in ensuring a successful day.

The golf was followed by a superb meal and the usual presentation of prizes with entertaining stretching well into the small hours.

Claire’s husband, Breffni, her son Barney and her daughter Eila not to mention a large family circle, had travelled from near and far to join in what proved memorable celebrations.
