KIERAN Bradley continued his rich vein of form at Foyle last weekend when claiming the much sought after Sunday Society Christmas Hamper competition.
No few than 48 hardy competitors braved the wind and rain but the poor playing conditions did not deter some fine scoring on the day.
Bradley, who coped better than most in the conditions, returned a superb score of 43 points to enjoy a two points cushion over the chasing pack.
Full results were - Sunday Society Christmas Hamper - Overall winner, Kieran Bradley (14) 43 points; Category 0-11, Kevin Dunn (10) 39; Cat. 12-17, Sean Sands (12) 41; Cat. 18+ James Meehan (25) 40; back nine, break of tie, Raymond Tracey (14) 20; nearest the pin, Martin Loughrey.
Meanwhile, the race for the coveted Foyle Sunday Society “golfer of the year” title is well underway and after eight rounds Martin Loughrey, having accumulated 310 points, holds a 16 points lead at this early stage.

Lapsed Members Offer at Ballyliffin
Former members of Ballyliffin may rejoin the club in 2014 with no entrance fee, the Inishowen club has announced.
The one-off offer will expire on March 31st next so former members of Ballyliffin may join for the 2014 subscription E500.

O’DONNELL WINS TURKEY AT lisfannon
A superb back nine of two over gross for 23 points, combined with a solid 19 points on the front side - despite a blank at the second hole - was enough for Kevin O’Donnell to secure his Christmas dinner with an excellent score of 42 points at North-West on Saturday last.
In second place Paul Devine (24) with 41 points and his only blemish arrived at the par five 18th where he recorded a double bogey.
The C.S.S. was 37 pts.
Meanwhile, in last Sunday’s Christmas Fayre event, constant rain and blustery winds kept most golfers off the links but Philip Meenan coped better than most when returning the top score of 32 points.
A solid 18 points on the way home was highlighted by a birdie ‘2’ at the 16th.
In second place was Gary McLaughlin (9) with 31 points, Gary with a birdie at the last hole just pipped Charlie Doherty following a break of tie.
Christmas Hampers This Weekend at north-west
This Saturday and Sunday sees the staging of the annual Christmas Hampers competition and competitors may only play once by selecting which day suits them.
The list of qualifiers has been posed on the club’s notice board and there will also be a prize for the non-qualifiers.
Open ‘Meal Deal’ today
As usual the Tuesday Open “Meal Deal” remains on offer today (Tuesday) and those wishing to play should contact Gary in the Golf Shop for the timesheet.
Visitors pay E21 for competition and meal in the clubhouse after round with members paying E9.
GUI Draws for 2014
The Ulster Branch of the GUI has released the draws and venues for the 2014 events.
The Ulster Cup is considered one of the top competitions and the eye watering match for local teams is the meeting of Letterkenny and City of Derry in the second round.
Also exempt from the first round are Foyle, Ballyliffin, and Cruit Island.
The full draws for all competitions will appear in Friday’s edition of the ‘Journal.’
