THE first outing of the Donegal & Friends Ladies Winter Alliance will tee-off at Foyle tomorrow (Saturday) and the first tee has been booked from 9.30 a.m. until 12.00 noon with last cards issued at 11.00 a.m.

The full programme for the 2012/13 Alliance season is as follows - Saturday, September 29th, Foyle Golf Centre; Sunday, October 14, City of Derry; Saturday, November 17th, Portsalon; Saturday, December 8th, North-West; Saturay, January 12th, 2013, Ballyliffin; Saturday, February, 23rd, Greencastle; Sunday, March 24th, Strabane and Saturday, April 27th, Buncrana.

Buncrana Ladies

Resent results from Buncrana Ladies Branch - Friday, September 14th - 1, Michelle Duffy, 19 points.

Friday, Septemebr 21st - Confined Stroke - 1, Margaret McColgan, 72 nett; 2, Carol McDaid, 76; best 36 handicapper, Colette Gallanagh.

Today’s competition (Fri.) is a confined stableford.

Ballyliffin Ladies

The Ladies Open Charity competition, which was played in beautiful Autumnal weather on Saturday last, was won by Margaret Doherty (O), with an excellent score of 39 points.

Full results were - Charity Stableford - 1, Margaret Doherty (O) 39 points; 2, break of tie, Sadie Grant (N) (22) 38; gross, Anne Higgins (12) 22; 3, Ann Friel (19) 38.

Next Tuesday’s competition, October 2nd, is a confined event.

Greencastle Ladies

The Scotch Foursomes pairing of Lucia Mullen and Margaret O’Kane proved too strong last Thursday when emerging comfortable winners of the event with the nearest challengers being Mary Brennan and Veronica McLaughlin.

This Thursday there is a ‘teams of three’ Rumble.

Meanwhile, the club’s North-West League team took on Redcastle in the final at Strabane on Friday last but, unfortunately, they could not overcome their near neighbours.

Members are reminded that the draw for the Winter League will take place this Thursday. The draw times for the winter have been revised. There will now be draws at 10.30 a.m., 12.30 p.m. and 2.00 p.m.

The Ladies Alliance starts this Saturday with the first outing at Foyle. The tee has been reserved from 9.30 until 11.00 a.m.

Strabane Ladies

Strabane Ladies competition was reduced to 15 holes last Tuesday with Teresa Logue (31) taking the honours with 29 points. The Category 1 prize went to Maeve Crowe with 26 pts. and Category Two was won by Geraldine McCrory with 29 pts.

In girls junior golf the recent results were - Kathleen Hoynes competition - Category 1, Abbey Maxwell; Category 2, Megan McGonagle; Category 3, Megan McGettigan.

Lady Presidents prize - 1, Elena Byrne; 2, Aine Houston; 3, Orlagh Neeson.

The presentations for these and any other outstanding junior competitions will take place tonight (Friday) at 7.30 p.m. and all parents are invited to attend.

Foyle Ladies

Foyle Ladies Branch will host a “Pink Day Open” on Thursday next, October 4th in aid of Breast Cancer (Cancer Focus N.I.), with beautiful prizes for both Ladies and Gents.

Letterkenny Ladies

The annual Lady Captain’s outing took place last weekend to the Redcastle Hotel and Golf resort and the sun shone on the Lady Captain, Angela Kilgallen, who took top honours with a fine score of 37 points.

Celine Bradley, a lady who has never been far from the prizewinners’ enclosure, finished in second with 35 points with Mary Murray finishing in third spot with 34 points.

Grainne Hines won thefront nine (18 pts.) and Sandra McMonagle, the back nine (19 pts.).

A wonderful weekend was had by everyone and many thanks to the Redcastle Hotel for their wonderful hospitality.

Dunfanaghy Ladies

Results from Dunfanaghy Ladies - Saturday last - 1, Gerarda Arnold (24) 38 points; 2, break of tie, Margaret Roarty (24) 36; 3, Caitlin Hegarty (18) 36.

The C.S.S. was 36 pts.

North-West Ladies

The Mary Desmond Cup was won by Marian Scheel with 34 points on Wednesday at North-West.

The win gives Marian a total of four cups which ensures her the “Golfer of the Year” Trophy. Runner-up on Wednesday was Roisín imoney with 33 pts. following a break of tie with Aileen McGlynn.

Next week is a Club 18 holes Stableford competition - the draw is on the notice board.
