Large turnout for Scramble at Buncrana Ladies event

The new season for Buncrana Ladies Branch got off to a great start with a Scramble and there was a large turnout.

In the end, the best team on the day was the trio of Helen Gallanagh, Maureen Louden and Michelle Duffy who were followed closely home by Rebecca McCrossan, Brenda Chauhan and Moya J O Doherty.

Today’s competition is an 18 holes Stableford with the draw in place.

Buncrana Ladies Branch wish Lady Captain Deborah, a very enjoyable and successful year.

City of Derry Ladies

The following are the results for City of Derry Ladies Branch from Tuesday, March 11th - 12 holes Winter Stableford - 1, Rita O’Kane (27) 22 points; 2, break of tie, Florence Walker (27) 21; 3 Brenda Chauhan (17) 21.

Next week’s competition is a 13 holes Bring ‘n’ Win event.

Letterkenny Ladies

Last weekend’s ‘Drive-In’ was well supported by members with Captain Tom, Lady Captain Catherine and President Barry officially opening the new season.

The team of Karen McGlinchey, Joe Brown and Conor Friel took top honours in the Mixed Scramble which followed.

Congratulations and best wishes are extended to the Captains and President for the golfing year ahead.

An information evening for all juniors and their parents and guardians will be hosted on Sunday, March 23rd at 7.00 p.m. New members are welcome to attend this meeting and if you require more information then please contact Mary on (086) 8415612 or Catherine on (086) 8047782.

BALLYBOFEY & STRANORLAR LADIES

Congratulations to Margaret McConnell who won the first 18 hole competition of 2014 with 35 points on Satudray last, the event sponsored by Gerard McCool (Bookmakers).

The runner-up was Bridie Faulkner on 32 and in third was Margaret McCrossan on 27.

Commiserations to Dolores Devanney and Eileen Reilly who lost their Daily Mail matchplay at Portnoo. It was however a great match in very windy conditions.

North-West Ladies

Members of North-West Ladies Branch enjoyed a glorious day for their weekly competition on Wednesday last, the Lisfannon Links in superb condition.

With the competition played over 13 holes a three-way break of tie was called up to identify the overall winner.

And that honour belonged to Anne O’Neill who had the best of the 25 point scores, maintaining her excellent start to the season.

The runner-up was Roisín Timoney with Deirdre Britton in third spot on the same score.

Meanwhile, today (Friday) is the final Winter Links Alliance outing at North-West.

Next week the running draw continues at 9.00 a.m., 9.30 a.m. and 11.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. for a 13 holes Stroke competition.

There will be a draw for markers on Wednesday, March 26th for those interested in playing the Donegal Shield at Murvagh which is scheduled for Saturday, April 26th.
