THE high powered quartet of Jim Burns, Mickey Havelin, Danny Carlin and Martin McCormick will be the first players expecting to find the fairway as Redcastle’s popular President, Mr. Martin Harkin (pictured below), gets his “big day” off to an early start at 7.45 a.m. tomorrow.

And with the Inishowen club’s membership expected to honour their leading official, a successful day is assured.

As is traditional at Redcastle, the club’s Ladies Branch will tee-off from 11.30 a.m. with the official presentation to be staged later in the season.

All those taking part are urged to arrive at least 20 minutes before tee-off times and those requiring further information should contact Seamus McGeehan on 71-351801.

Foyle’s Irish Open!

Foyle Golf Club opted to stage its own Irish Open Championship on Sunday last and hardy souls who turnout in the morning, appeared to totally ignore the inclement conditions having returned some excellent scores.

The top return of the day was made by Stephen Moore (17) whose 44 points gave him a one point win over runner-up, Ciaran McGuinness (14).

The C.S.S. was 38 pts.

Friday Friday Open results - 1, Paul Charlsworth (15) 41 points; 2, break of tie, Patrick McDaid (19) 40.

The C.S.S. was 37 pts.

Meanwhile, Foyle Golf Club will host a Prize Presentation function tonight (Friday) at 10 p.m. after the Scramble and Barbecue.

Prizewinners from the following competitions should attend or, indeed, send a deputy - Total Golf Two Days Open; Voucher winners in Club Stableford competitions; Club Sweeps and Qualifiers won to date (See Notice Board for List of Winners).

Friday Golf Classic

in Dunfanaghy

Dunfanaghy will host a Golf Classic today (Friday) in aid of the Donegal North-West Mental Health Services. Teams of Four (any combination) with entry fee E80 per team.

The competition will include prizes for longest drive and nearest the pin.

Meanwhile, the club’s annual Open Week, will run from Wednesday, July 18th to Saturday, July 28th.

The club is currently in the process of constructing a new webpage which should be online over the next few weeks.
