Strabane’s successful Open week came to a conclusion on Saturday past with the McHugh’s Oil Open Stableford which attracted the largest entry of the week with almost 180 cards taken out.
The event was played in very blustery but dry conditions and the winning score was posted amongst the early starters with Jim Arbuckle’s (18) setting the mark with an excellent 40 points.

Congratulations to club caterer, Tommy Forbes who had a hole in one at the second hole playing the perfect three wood shot into the strong breeze.
Thurday’s Strabane Catering Open Stableford event attracted an excellent field with almost 130 entries and best on the day was four handicapper Martin McDermott who was in terrific form on his way to posting a one under gross round that converted to a winning 41 pts.

Meanwhile 47 pairs took part in Friday’s Bertie Colhoun Cup Greensomes event with the winning total of 43 pts going to the visiting Ballybofey pair of Freddie Wilson and John Caughan.
Conor Sharkey and Eamon McCay claimed the runners-up with 42 points while Paul McNally and Paul Gallagher completed the prizewinners with 41.

Carol O’Neill Open results - 1, Violet Spratt (17) (Newtownstewart) 37pts; 2, Jennifer Rouse (19) 36; 3, Monica McGettigan (25) 35; Gross - Lorna Armstrong (13) 20; Categories - Lisa Patton (17), Catherine Neeson (19) and Teresa Logue (31) all with 33 pts.
President Mixed Greensomes - 1, Jennifer Rouse and Frankie Connolly 45pts; 2, Lorna Duffy and Declan McDonnell 44; 3, Noreen McNally and Declan Lynch 43; 4, Mary McCrory and Declan Devine 43.
Last week saw the club’s Past Captains and Presidents in action for their yearly battle with the honours this year going to Liam Patton with 38 points - one clear of Oliver McNally with Garvan Godfrey in third place with 36.
