JOY QUIGG (24) dominated the field to secure Anne McDermott’s Lady President’s Prize at Greencastle Golf Club last week with 39 points.

The fairways were in excellent condition and Joy claimed the top prize with a three shot margin over her nearest rivals, Kathleen Faulkner (22) and Margaret Dolan who were tied on 36 points.

There was a special competition for the men on Wednesday and the winner was Liam Edwards with 27 points and second place went to Billy Harley after a multiple break of tie for those on 26 points.

Ballyliffin Ladies

Bernie McCarron claimed the Clonmany Cup on a break of tie from Anne McLaughlin (P).

The much anticipated Lady Captain’s outing will take place in Portsalon on Sunday, September 2nd.

There are several places remaining on the bus so hurry and get your name on the list on the notice board.

City of Derry Ladies

Full results for City of Derry Ladies July Par competition were - 1, Marie McReynolds (17); 2, break of tie, Christine Mitchell (27); 3, Betty McBride (17); CSS was 72.

The winner will receive a Centenary medal which will be presented on Lady Captain’s day on Friday, August 3rd. Next week’s competition is the Victory Cup Stableford competition.

Redcastle Ladies

The competition scheduled for last Monday, July 23rd (Playing Fields Salver) was cancelled due to the adverse weather conditions and will be played at a later date.

The next competition will be played on Monday, July 30th next which involves nine holes, dinner and Social evening.

A running draw will take place from 5 p.m.

Buncrana Ladies

Results from Friday, July 13th - 1, Evelyn Smith (35) 33pts; 2, Kathleen Burns (33) 31; Best 36 - Susan McCoy.

Fixtures - On Friday, July 27th, there will be an 18 hole stroke confined competition; On Friday, August 3rd there will be an Open stableford competition in aid of breast cancer. Entry fee is E10. All support greatly appreciated.

Foyle Ladies

The O2 Challenge Trophy, which was played for on Thursday, July 19th, was won by Foyle’s in-form player, Agnes McLaughlin with a tremendous score of 40 points.

Full results were – 1, Sadie O’Kane (19) 40; 2, Christine McCafferty (30) 37; 3, Maureen Sheerin (25) 34.

Meanwhile next week’s competition is the Nellie Garrett Foursomes Qualifying competition. Please arrange own partners, markers and tee time.
