REDCASTLE Lady Captain, Gill Eakin, will host her first Charity Open competition on Monday next, May 9th, in aid of Cancer Research N.I. The competition has been kindly sponsored by Total Golf.

Meanwhile, results from the Redcastle Cup competition staged on Monday, April 25th - 1, Una Smyth (26) 39 points; 2, Lyn McOwan (20) 38; 3, Rosie Agnew (21) 37.

North-West Ladies

The strong winds made scoring conditions difficult on Wednesday but this did not deter Anne Marie Begley as she recorded her first win of the season, claiming the Lisfannon Cup, with an excellent 69 nett. Hot on her heals and leader in the clubhouse for quite some time was Aileen McGlynn. Results were - 1, Anne Marie Begley (26) 69 nett; 2, Aileen McGlynn (17) 70; 3, Anne McCloskey (13) 72.

The C.S.S. was 72.

Next week there is a change to the fixture list and ladies will play for the Swilly Cup. The draw has been posted in the locker room. The Australian Spoons will now take place on 25th May. Other dates for your diary include the Lady Captain’s Charity Open Teams of 3 event on Wed. 18th May - charities to benefit are the Nursing Home in Buncrana and White Oaks.On Friday 20th May there is a Club History Classic Open - teams of 4, any combination. Please ring Gary to book your team on the timesheet.

The Beginner Deal price of €220 is still available to Ladies & Gents who have not previously held a handicap in another club. Ladies Branch will be hosting lessons for beginner ladies in June so please look out for further details over the coming weeks.

City of Derry Ladies

Recent results from City of Derry ladies - Sunday, May 1st, 18 holes stableford - 1, break of tie, Eleanor Coulter (18) 35 points; 2, Rosaleen McAnulla (20) 35.

The C.S.S. was 71.

May Day Ladies Open Stableford, May 2nd - 1, Lucy Smyth (20) 39 points; 2, Maura Gillen (19) Edenderry, 36.

The C.S.S. was 72.

Karl Doherty Motors Teams of Three Open, staged on Tuesday, May 3rd over 18 holes - 1, Marlene Montgomery, Christine Mitchell and Pat Kyle, 82 points; 2, break of tie, Naoimh Quigg, Ann Wallace and Gerda Laird, 78; 3, Florence Walker, Kathleen Desmond and Kathleen O’Doherty, 78.

Next Tuesday’s competition, May 10th, is the PGA Tankard qualifying competition . This is an 18 hole stableford competition and entry is via the club computerised timesheet at www.cityofderrygolfclub.co.uk

Sunday competitions continue this Sunday, May 8th.

Letterkenny Ladies

Patricia O’Sullivan recorded her maiden victory when winning last week’s nine holes competition at Letterkenny with a score of 18 points.

The 18 hole competition over the Easter Weekend was won by Marian O’Sullivan with 39 points. Karen Crawford finished in second spot on 38 points while Nuala McGarrigle was third on 37 points.

Last Thursdays 11 hole competition was won by Marian O’Sullivan 25 points following a break of tie with Connie Reddan with Bridie Gildea in third on 22.

The Voucher competition for free subs in 2012 will be played on May 10th while the 18 holes club competitions commenced on Thursday last by popular demand. Time sheets are in operation.

Faughan Valley Ladies

Faughan Valley Ladies Branch will host a Ladies Charity Open on Saturday, May 14th next and all visitors will be made welcome.

Meanwhile, results from the Stroke competition, staged on Wednesday, April 27th were - 1, Nadine Lynch (28) 67 nett; 2, break of tie, Catherine O’Neill (20) 69; 3, Eileen Robb (18) 69.

Ballybofey & Stranorlar

Results from the recent 18 holes Stroke event, staged on Wednesday, April 27th - 1, break of tie, Mary McHugh, 68 nett; 2, Ann Glancy 68; gross, Margaret McConnell; 3, break of tie, Kay Stewart 69; 4, Elizabeth Hamilton, 69.

‘2s’ were carded by Deirdre Kelly at the 14th and Mary Brogan at the 6th

The Lady Captain’s Outing to Strandhill, Co. Sligo, takes place this Sunday, May 8th. Bus will leave the clubhouse at 9.00 a.m. sharp.

Roe Park Ladies

Foyle Hospice competition - 1, Estelle Rose (15) 40 points; 2, Ann Kearney (16) 36; 3, Jill Riley (35) 34.

Austrialian Spoons, April 13th - 1, Lucienda Brien and Shona O’Connor, 38 points who will represent Roe Park in the finals at Carnalea on July 26th.

April Medal results - 1, Heather McLaughlin (36) 69 nett; 2, break of tie, Geraldine Kerlin (12) 72; 3, Margaret Patterson (21) 72.

Buncrana Ladies

Carol McDaid (27) won last Friday’s 18 holes Stroke competition at Buncrana, his nett score of 65 giving her a three shot cushion on the chasing pack.

The runner-up was Helen Gallanagh (21) who survived a break of tie with a 68.

The best 30+ handicapper was Phillipa Porter.

Foyle Ladies

The annual Inner Wheel Charity Open, in aid of Children’s charities, was staged at Foyle on Thursday last and a superb turnout of 58 ladies enjoyed glorious weather conditions.
