STEPHEN Martin, a prominent member of the Foyle club’s popular Sunday Socieety produced what must be considered the “round of the season” when returning a six under par return last week.
The talented one handicapper, who works in the Total Golf Super Store at the Ballyarnett club, recorded a magnificent 43 points to by one.
Taking full advantage of Foyle’s winter rules using “preferred lies through the green,” Stephen took full use of a course which remains in pristine condition.
Indeed, the second and third placed players, also returning excellent scores of 42 points, saw Kieran Bradley relegate Paul McEleney into third spot following the tie-break.
The Foyle Sunday Society Christmas Hamper willl take place on Sunday, December 8th with a time sheet in operation between 9.00 a.m. and 10.30 a.m. All those taking part during these times are urged to enter their names on the sheet provided in the shop.
Sunday Society members playing outside these times are asked to book their own times with last cards to be issued by 11.30 a.m.

Desmond Motors Winter League at Foyle
Having returned a superb score of 101 points in the seventh round of the Desmond Motors Winter League at Ballyarnett last week, Team 20 have now opened up a six points lead over the chasing pack.
Consisting John Jennings, Dermott Harkin, Mark Doherty and Ciaran O’ Doherty, Team 20 now boast an accumulated points total of 659 as the competition enters the final stages of qualifying.

Officials to the fore
Buncrana Golf Club Captain, Mr. Kevin McDermott (18), played some tremendous golf on Sunday morning to shoot 23 points and claim the nine holes sweep in the process.
In second spot was Kevin’s playing partner and, Club President, Mr. Paul Eccles (15) with 22 pts.
Meanwhile, the first round of the knockout stages in the Owen McDaid (Roe) Winter League will take place this weekend over Saturday, November 30th and Sunday, December 1st.
The full draw has been posted on the clubhouse notice board and all matches must be played on or before this Sunday, there will be no exceptions.
The Christmas Hamper will be played over Saturday and Sunday, December 7th and 8th. The entry fee is E4 with a E2 re-entry and it takes 21 pts over nine holes to qualify.
The “Find the Joker” fund raising effort continues with the jackpot standing at €1,000. Lines cost E2 each and the Committee would appreciate it if members would buy a line or even help with the sale of a card.
