Thornhill stages successful Primary Schools Cross Country event

ALMOST 300 young athletes gathered at the spacious Thornhill College grounds last Friday for the first of three Flahavans Porridge Primary Schools Cross Country races to be staged in the North West.

Primary Schools from across the Derry City Council area competed in three 1K races on the day.

And Oisin Gallagher took first place in the boys’ race, finishing ahead of fellow St Anne’s teammate, Patrick McLaughlin (2nd) and Sacred Heart Primary School’s Sam McKeever (3rd).

In the girls’ race Steelstown Primary School’s Cara Laverty took top prize and Daryl Logue finished first in the Fun Run.

The next race in the Primary Schools Cross Country calendar to be staged in the North West will take place on Friday, December 5th at St Columb’s Park.

And the third and final race is scheduled for Friday, January 16th at Templemore Sports Complex.
