The City of Culture Pro-Am, hosted by City of Derry Golf Club and sponsored by Karl Doherty Motors and McDaid, McCullough, Moore Chartered Accountants, enjoyed glorious weather conditions at Prehen recently.

As usual, the event attracted the cream of Ireland’s professional golfers and Simon Thornton emerged the individual winner with an impressive 36 holes total of nine under par.

Colm Moriarty finished one shot behind him with local professional, Michael McGeady, another shot further back on seven under for the two rounds.

Meanwhile, David Jones, who started his career at City of Derry set a new course record on Sunday when carding a superb seven under par 64.

The much sought after team prize, which was also played over the two days, was led by professional, Paul Masterton and featured Prehen members George Pearson, Gary Leckey and Wyn Donnell, that quartet carding a total of 187 stableford points to enjoy a four points cushion on the chasing pack.
