Derry triathlete, Aileen Reid produced another superb performance on Sunday as she recorded her first podium finish of the season with a second place finish in the ITU World Cup event in Hungary.
The Culmore Road native had finished fifth in her semi-final the previous day but finished strongly in the final to secure a silver medal.
Competing in Tiszaujvaros, Reid finished runner-up behind American Katie Hursey who earned her second successive win in the World Cup series.
The final involved 30 of the elite female triathletes and Hursey finished 27 seconds ahead of Reid with Croatian Sara Vilic a further six seconds back in third.
And Aileen admitted she even surprised herself with her brilliant display.
“I’m delighted,” said Aileen afterwards. “I didn’t think I had it in me after yesterday’s race.
“My plan was to run easy in the heats just as long as I qualified and I’m glad it paid off today.
“I’m so pleased to be on the podium,”she added.
Reid’s silver medal will give her confidence going into the second half of the season with the ITU World Triathlon Series stopping off in Stolkholm before the Grand Final in London from September 11th- 15th .
