With the Waterside Half Marathon, set for September 8th getting closer, the entries are beginning to gather pace for the Derry City Council organised annual event, now in its 32nd year.
A popular standard on the local running scene since 1981 the Waterside expects a 1,400 entry this year and, buoyed up by the successful Walled City Marathon back in June, all’s looking good for the 13.1 mile classic.
Runners can tackle the full 13.1 miles or break it down into bite-size chunks of around 4.4 miles for a Relay team of three different runners.
This is a realistic option for many novice runners, who get to savour the terrific atmosphere of the Waterside without all the angst of the full distance.
There is also the 10 mile Challenge Walk option and with all those folk out and about exercising these days the Walk will also attract good numbers.
