North Star basketball club hoping for success in 2013

It’s now coming up to the start of a new season for North Star basketball club. After a successful summer camp the club is looking for new members to participate in the new basketball season ahead.
Last season North Star had a successful year across the Basketball Northern Ireland leagues and has even had a local player represent Ireland at U16 level, but now the club is looking to expand and are looking for any new members to join the club whether they are beginners or have some experience playing basketball.
New North Star Public Relations Officer, Conor McFeely, said that there was a buzz about the club and that everyone was looking forward to getting back to playing games.
“There’s immense talent at the club at all levels but as always we are on the look out for more.
“We have been training for the last few weeks and the new league is due to start soon - here’s hoping that the 2012/13 season can be a successful one for Derry’s only basketball club.
“Many young children tried basketball out for the first time during our summer camp in August - they all really enjoyed it.
“We want as many people as possible to give basketball a try and who knows, after a few training session they might be ready to take part in a game or two,” said Conor.
If you’re interested in trying basketball for the first time, here are the new training times for all teams a part of North Star basketball club for the upcoming season. Basketball Training Times:
Pee-Wees: Foyleview, Saturday mornings, 10.00am - 10.45am
Primary School Children: Foyleview, Saturday mornings, 11.00am – 12.00pm
Under 12 Boys & Under 14 Girls: St. Columb’s College, Monday, 6.00pm - 7.15pm
Under 14 Boys: Bishop’s Field, Saturday mornings, 10.00am – 11.00am
Under 16 Boys: Bishop’s Field, Saturday mornings, 11.00am – 12.00pm and Thursday afternoons, 5.00 - 6.00pm, at St. Joseph’s Boys’ School
Under 18 Boys: Bishop’s Field, Saturday afternoons, 12.00pm – 1.00pm and Wednesday afternoons, 6.00pm – 7.15pm, at St. Columb’s College.
Senior Men: Bishop’s Field, Tuesday nights 7.15pm - 8.45pm, Saturday mornings 1.00pm - 2.30pm and Wednesday nights, 7.15pm – 8.45pm, at St. Columb’s College.
