In the first heat Shesanicelady, who was narrowly beaten in the final of the Brandywell Derby a few weeks ago, showed she was right back to form.

And although she was in trap two and not in her favoured trap one draw in her heat, she once again showed her brilliant early pace to go well clear of the field.

She did tire in the home straight, however, she held on to win by a length in a time of 29.03 for the 525 at odds of evens for Co. Tyrone based owner, Aiden Cullen.

In heat two of the Brandywell Oaks, Velvet Jenny – who had good staying form on her card around Shelbourne and Dundalk – was evens favourite to open her account at Brandywell . However, in the run to the bend she was a few lengths behind the early pacesetter, Drumcrow Winnie. As the race progressed along the back straight Drumcrow Winnie increased the lead but just approaching the final bends the stamina kicked in and Velvet Jenny started to close. Coming into the home straight she took the lead and galloped on strongly to win by just over two lengths in a very good time of 28.82 for Coalisland based owners, The Rusty Lads syndicate and trainer, Michael Corr.

In the final heat Longrange Glam was evens favourite to win but she fluffed her chance at traprise when she broke very slowly. However, it was a different story for Old Fort Reno from trap six. She was well supported at 2/1 before the off and she never gave her supporters a moment's worry. Indeed, she soon had the race in safe-keeping. After a flying start from trap six she went well clear and had over two to spare at the winning line, clocking a good time of 29.02 for Omagh based owner, Tony Teague.

The trap draw was made for the semi-finals after the heats and in the first semi-final Shesanicelady looks the likely winner from trap three with Drumcrow Winnie and Sleepy Millie selected to also qualify for the final.

In the second semi-final Velvet Jenny will be odds on and she cannot be opposed on form. Neon Blue and Elms Cup have a great chance of also qualifying for the Final. So as normal first race at 8p.m. next Monday night.

Racing will take place tonight (Friday) and on Sunday night at Lifford and it's great news that Sunday night’s full meeting will be shown live on RPGTV Sky channel 427. Also, the main races on Sunday night’s card will be the semi-finals of the Firecracker Sprint and the Rocket 525 with both competitions sponsored by RPGTV.

In the first heat of the sprint, Izzy's Jimmy was having his first race at the track and although his Dundalk form looked good, Pleads Tip from trap two was the 5/4 favourite to win as she had good sprint form at Lifford. However, this race was decided at trap rise when Izzy's Jimmy took a flyer from trap one and it was race over. He stopped the clock in a flying time of 17.45 for Fermanagh based owner Ann Breslin.

In heat two Spurge, who was an impressive winner in his only run at the track, was a red-hot 1/2 to land the double and he had to work hard to land the odds. He broke well from trap one but Ontimeforthree from trap five put it up to the favourite on the run to the bend. However, going around the bend Spurge got the upper hand and he galloped on strongly to win by over two lengths in a time of 17.69 for Derry based owner Tom Mullan.

In the final heat Robbie Be Good was the 6/4 favourite with Kilgarran Timmy well supported at 4/1 into 5/2 before the off. At traprise it was a very level break and approaching the first bend the field was tightly packed. There was a lot of trouble at that point and the one that escaped was Kilgarran Timmy who missed the congestion and went on to win in a time of 17.96 for Armagh based owner Barry Carr.

In the first heat of the Rocket 525, Wilms Blake won in a time of 29.20 for Newtonbutler based owner, Tom Caughey.

In heat two Hawkfield Abbie came from off the pace to win in a time of 28.86 for Newbridge based owner Jerry Connors and trainer Ginger McGee.

Heat three was won by Tahina Iceman in a time of 29.03 for Fermanagh based owner Vera Croarkin and in the final heat Kyanite Kate was the most impressive winner of the heats, winning in a flying time of 28.58 for Derry based owner Frank Harvey.

So, racing tonight at the normal start time of 7.45pm and Sunday night’s card will start at the earlier time of 6pm with the racing also shown live on Sky 427.
