Jordan started his bout in full control of the fight using his jab to back up his Belfast boxer opponent. He proceeded to throw right hands to keep southpaw, McVicker on the back foot. The Derry boxer’s jab was very effective and then he started to throw more right hands as he was catching the Belfast boxer. Pearse finished off the first round in total control, winning the round from all three judges.

The Derry boxer continued in the same fashion in rounds two and three even though the Belfast boxer tried to increase his workrate. Pearse kept matching him and couldn’t miss with his jab and right hand. He won the second and third rounds with the same tactics winning the contest on a 3-0 decision to become the Irish Youth 1 champion at 36kgs. This making up for his last year’s defeat in the final.
