It was almost a case of deja-vu around the North-West on Saturday as the ClubTurf Ulster Cup got under way with NCU sides holding the upper hand after the first count.
Just as in the Bob Kerr Irish Senior Cup competition a few weeks earlier only three North-West teams progressed to the second round at the weekend and two of them, Brigade and Donemana, were also in the successful trio in the All-Ireland competition.
There was some very heavy scoring again as conditions remained ideal while there were also four league games in the top flight over the weekend.
Creevedonnell won the big game on Saturday at home to Bond’s Glen to give themselves a real chance of avoiding the automatic relegation spots while on Sunday Bready ended Donemana’s run with a thrilling last ball win while Coleraine defeated Brigade by one run in similar circumstances.
