Eye witnesses have described the "bloody" attack of a man in a Strabane pub on Saturday night as "vicious" and "cruel".
A gang of men brandishing hurley bats repeatedly beat another man who was lying on the ground in the entrance hall of the Bridgend Bar in Strabane shortly after 11.30pm.

One eye witness said that a gang of three men pulled up in a silver car outside the bar and jumped out and attacked the man with wooden hurley bats.

“Another man was waiting for them in the car with the engine on, after they beat him senseless they jumped in the car and sped off towards Bridge Street,” he said.

It is understood that the bar, which re-opened last weekend after being closed for a period, had been hosting a function for the travelling community at the time of the attack.
