A Strabane Magistrate has told an Omagh man that he must "give something back to the community" after he pleaded guilty to possessing herbal cannabis and cannabis resin in his home.
Gareth Coghill, Castlederg road, Drumquin, Omagh was ordered to complete 140 hours of community service after the court heard that police who obtained a warrant to search Coghill’s property found a tin box containing herbal cannabis and cannabis resin.
Coghill accepted that he was in possession of a class C drug, however he denied using pipes to smoke the cannabis.
District Judge Liam McNally said that he had to take into account the serious nature of the offence.
“I order you to complete 140 hours of community service, you can give something back to the community,” Mr McNally added.
