Police in Strabane are urging members of the public to take greater care when leaving their properties vacant for any length of time.
The warning follows a number of reports over the last few weeks regarding the theft of oil burners from unoccupied houses.

Caroline Hill, Crime Prevention Officer for the area said: “The most effective way of protecting oil burners is to have them removed and stored safely away until they are needed.

“I would also appeal for local residents to keep an eye on any vacant properties in their area and report suspicious activity to police immediately.”
