Derry’s teenage Big Brother housemate, Ashleigh Coyle has been installed as the bookies’ favourite to win the 2014 series.

Last Monday, bookmakers had Ashleigh at 6/1 to be the last out of the reality TV house when the series finishes but this has been cut in the last few days to only 7/4.

Ashleigh (18) from the Waterside area of the city won the ‘Miss Derry’ title last year after turning 18 and since that time she has modelled for some local companies.

After winning the ‘Miss Derry’ title, Ashleigh said the accolade had brought her great exposure.

“This year has opened so many doors for me,” she said.

Ashleigh was amongst the second batch of contestants to enter the house.

She has said she wants out and once heard chants of ‘Get Ashleigh out’ as an eviction took place. But she has slowly won over the public and was given immunity from eviction this week via the public vote.

She is seen as a strong person and someone who has stood up to Helen Wood who, of course, has a pass to the final. So far, Helen’s past has been held back from the housemates who are unaware that she hit headlines three years ago when she was involved in a tabloid scandal involving England footballer Wayne Rooney.

Ashleigh is now holding her own as the favourite to win.
