An Industrial Tribunal taken by former City of Culture Marketing Chief Garbhan Downey against the Culture Company is set to resume in Belfast on Thursday.
The Tribunal previously sat for four days last month during which the three- strong panel heard claims that proper disciplinary procedures were not followed in Mr Downey’s case and that the process had been unfairly weighted against him.
Mr Downey was sacked by Culture Company in January of this year. This followed his suspension in October 2012 after he voiced fears that marketing funding for 2013 could be re-directed by Derry City Council.
Three more witnesses, including those who sat on Mr Downey’s appeal panel, are due to give evidence to the Tribunal over two days of hearings. Neither Council chief Sharon O’Connor nor Culture CEO Shona McCarthy are scheduled to give evidence.
