The largest gaming and anime event in the North West for almost a decade will be switched on in Derry this weekend.
The Magee campus of the University of Ulster will host a major convention, which is expected to attract hundreds of people to Derry over the course of Saturday and Sunday.
The 18 and over event is being staged by the university in conjunction with MageeCore, a UU student society, and is open to all.
Among those who will be coming to Derry will be Japanese animation enthusiasts, gamers and movie fans.
The convention will be offering freeplay, screenings and tournaments as well as demo learning games.
Colin Palin, marketing director for the convention said: “We are very excited to be running the Derry Londonderry Convention and giving Derry an event where gamers can socialise and meet like-minded people.
“Belfast already have two large events, Q-Con and the newly started Comic Con, so we feel it is high time Derry gets its own.”
Among the types of gaming events and contests are the new Xbox One and PS4 consoles, and old-school tabletop boardgames and role-playing games.
The event kicks off at 10am on Saturday and Sunday, July 26th and 27th with day tickets available. For info go to: www.dlc-derry.com or www.facebook.com/DLCDerry.
