Former ‘X Factor’ contestant Eoghan Quigg, from Dungiven, is to compete for a chance to take part in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
The singer is one of five acts being considered for Ireland’s entry when the 59th annual competition returns on May 10 at the B&W Hallerne in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The winner will be announced on February 28 on RTE’s ‘The Late Late Show.’
Quigg will compete with his track ‘The Movie Song’, which was written by Karl Broderick. The songwriter previously had his song ‘Love?’ represent Ireland back in 2005.
Bookies have already installed Quigg as their favourite to represent Ireland at this year’s Eurovision.
The 21-year-old singer – who finished third in the 2008 series of ‘The X Factor’ - enjoyed some success post-show when he was invited to support Boyzone on tour.
