Speculation was today mounting that Derry musician Johnny McDaid is to tie the knot with his leading lady Courtney Cox on her 50th birthday.

Johnny (37) from the Culmore area of Derry has been in a relationship with the Hollywood actress for several months.

The couple have been snapped arm-in-arm at various showbiz events over the past year and friends have described them as being inseparable.

Ms Cox, who was previously wed to fellow actor David Arquette, turns 50 on June 15th this year.

But a big wedding reception at a hotel in Derry or Donegal looks unlikely as reports from across the Atlantic suggest that the wedding will be staged at Courteney’s home in Los Angeles.

Courteney- star of Friends, Cougar Town and the Scream film series- is said to have been introduced to former St Columb’s College student Johnny through his pal and fellow musician Ed Sheerin.

The couple grew closer after working together on the film ‘Before I Let Go’, which Courtney directed.

They arrived together at the premiere last week.

Johnny was one of the first local artists to perform during the series of concerts to celebrate Derry being City of Culture last year, taking to the stage alongside Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody at the Sons & Daughters event at Ebrington.

He was previously the frontman in the hit US band Vega4.
