Paul Casey, Ben Kelly, Roy Arbuckle and Anne Tracey are just some of the names that will join gifted staff from the hospital wards throughout the Western Health and Social Care Trust as they ditch their scrubs and swap the operating theatre for that of the Playhouse Theatre this Saturday night, November 17, in a night of song and performance.

Already highly accomplished in their professional medical capacities, the Western Trust performers will prove that they have many other strings to their bows at this special Arts Care fundraising event. ‘Trust’ performers include Dr Robert Cuthbert, a consultant haematologist at Belfast City Hospital playing classical guitar; Derry soprano Dr Catriona Herron; Altnagelvin’s Dr. Brendan Devlin, (Medical Imaging); and flautist Sharon Kelly from Erne Hospitals ‘Help Desk’ singing with Pianist Arts Care Musician Brais Monxardin.

BBC Northern Ireland broadcaster Noel Thompson will preside over the rich and diverse programme which is prescribed to heal the ‘hearts and minds’, and will showcase a truly vibrant variety of creative talents.

As well as the wonderful artistic performances on the night, audiences will be transported back in time with more than a whiff of glamour past, as the Bedlam models bring to life style through the ages.

A special silent auction of art, antiques and vintage treasures and prize winning opportunities will ensure this night will be just the tonic the Doctor ordered!

It’s all to raise funds for Arts Care, a unique NI Arts and Health Charity which engages 19 Artists-in-Residence, a team of Northern Ireland Clown Doctors and many project artists who facilitate and co-ordinate participatory workshops and performances throughout the Health and Social Care Trusts. Believing in the benefits of creativity to well-being, Arts Care makes all forms of art accessible to patients, clients, residents and staff in health and social care settings.

Ticket for Saturday’s musical feast are priced just £12. To get yours, phone or call at Waterside Hospital, Gransha, during office hours on: 71 860007. www.artscare.co.uk
