Breaking into the music industry can be notoriously difficult, but one Derry music student’s lucky break will soon see him releasing his debut single world-wide with not one, but two worldwide rap superstars, Snoop Dogg and Iyaz.
Lee Mulhern, better known nowadays as Lee.M, was born to sing and by the age of eleven had already represented Ireland at The World Championship of Performing Arts in Los Angeles. He came to Derry and studied music at the North West Regional College following his education at St Colman’s Secondary School in Strabane.
The 23-year-old singer, originally from Castlederg, is already well known to many in the North West, having been in the limelight from an early age. A former boyband member, Lee performed with Westlife, McFly, Sugababes and Shayne Ward to name a few and even performed with Kool & The Gang at Robert Kool’s 60th birthday party in Orlando. He was also once introduced to Michael Jackson on the phone, and Michael wished him every success in his career!
Lee has travelled extensively and one of the highlights of his career was working with one of the most successful music producers ever, Steve Mac (over 20 UK #1s alone with One Direction, The Wanted, The Saturdays, JLS, and Westlife).
With such strong contacts within the US music industry, Lee was approached by Subside Records to record the track Slow Motion with IYAZ and Snoop Dogg.
The track was signed to Strictly Rhythm who added New York ‘s J Pearl to the collaboration for a world-wide release.
The video for Slow Motion was shot in Milan and Los Angeles by the renowned Italian Director Claudio Zagarini (P. Diddy, Pussycat Dolls, Kelly Rowland, Snoop Dogg, Pitbull and Timbaland).
‘Slow Motion’ is released later this month and, although it’s a world away from where he began, the future looks particularly promising for Ireland’s Lee.M.
