Major fire show planned for Gasyard finale

A major fire sculpture show by internationally renowned Mark Hill from LUXe Productions will be held during the Gasyard Feile Finale on Monday (August 15).

The 45-minute Rise of the Phoenix show will form the centre-piece of the finale celebrations, which will run from 7pm until 11pm at Gasyard Park in the Bogside.

LUXe Productions are known locally for having staged Awakening the Walls during the Halloween Festival and other major installations.

LUXe, which was established in 2008 in Burnfoot, present around 25 shows a year all over Ireland, and have presented internationally from the fjords of Iceland to Hong Kong.

Alongside the fire display, there will be a children’s play zone, live music from local artist Eamon Harkin, young up-and-coming band The Touts, and Portabello.

Part of the festival also includes Mark Hill giving a master class with local people in designing and creating fire drawings, which will become part of the performance on the evening.
